Bored In The Stand? What Do You Do?

Bored In The Stand? What Do You Do?

What happens when you get bored in the stand? You’ve been sitting for an hour and nothing has shown up. At times, the minutes can get long and the wait can be boring. And when it does, it’s hard to be patient when the only movement outside the stand is leaves falling from trees and an occasional squirrel scurrying across the ground. Some people get fidgety, others doze off. What do you do when the woods are slow?

The Scroller.

Like, comment share. Pulling out a phone in the stand is easy to do when you’re bored. Whether you're on social media, checking emails or playing games, phones often serve as distractions to occupy time in the stand. Are you that hunter that sits on their phone until deer show up? Are you waiting for a good picture or video? It would sometimes be easier if we could just call the deer up. “Hello- hey, yeah could you come on out? Thanks, bye.”

The Sleeper.

Early mornings are often the worst. Getting in the stand before daybreak when the air is chill and a warm jacket is wrapped around your body. The woods are quiet and peaceful with most animal life just starting to wake up. When no movement happens outside the stand, you may find yourself getting a little too comfortable in your seat. A couple of head nods later and you accept the quiet. It’s too bad that drop tine you’ve been waiting on these past few months just walked out 50 yards away. But hey, you’re sleeping soundly and what you don’t know can’t hurt you.

The Snacker.

A bag of beef jerky, or a candy bar. An old pack of trail mix at the bottom of your bag or hardened granola bar. Nibbling on a snack when bored is more filling than twiddling your thumbs. Are you the hunter who makes sure to bring a snack during downtime? So what if you just ate breakfast or supper will be done in an hour. You’re bored so you’ll fill the time by filling your stomach. There’s nothing going on, deer don't want to come out and eat, so you will.

Satisfied.

Maybe you don’t get bored at all and view the time in the stand as time away from the boredom or business of the world outside the woods. Maybe you’re just happy to sit and wait or do a little bit of all the above while waiting for that buck to walk out. You understand that it's a part of the process. Hunting doesn't guarantee every time and most often it's about the wait and what it takes leading up to the moment of your finger on the trigger.

At H&W, our goal is to help ensure you are NOT bored in the stand. Our roasted protein blends and multiple corn flavors have a powerful aroma that attracts deer from all parts of the woods to a central feeding location. Whether it's the warm aroma of roasted peanuts or fresh smell of apple flavored corn, at the end of the scent trail, H&W Farms feed delivers on the promise that a good scent = good food. We do what we do so that you can do what you do. (But if we bring them out and you’re snoozing, don't blame it on us.)
